Amber Heard’s Sister Whitney Reacts To Johnny Depp’s Trial Win: “Cards Were Stacked Against Us”

Whitney Henriquez, Amber Heard‘s sister, has finally spoken out after the jury in Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against his ex-wife ruled in favor of the actor.

Actress Amber Heard has been ordered to pay Johnny Depp $10.35 million after a seven-person jury found her ex-husband to have been defamed by her in an op-ed in the Washington Post in 2018. After losing her slander countersuit, Heard was given $2 million. Her counsel said the next morning that she intends to appeal the judgment.

Even though she wasn’t there during the trial, the actress’ younger sister expressed her support for her on Instagram on Sunday, when the decision was read out loud in front of the whole courtroom.

Whitney Henriquez stated “I still stand with you, sissy. Yesterday, today and tomorrow I will always be proud of you for standing up for yourself, for testifying both here in Virginia and in the UK, and for being the voice of so many who can’t speak to the things that happen behind closed doors.”

We knew that this was going to be an uphill battle and that the cards were stacked against us,” she continued. “But you stood up and spoke out regardless. I am so honored to testify for you, and I would do it a million times over because I know what I saw and because the truth is forever on your side,” she added.

It’s a setback for women,” Heard said in her own statement after the conviction was announced. Despite the facts, she said, “I’m devastated that the avalanche of evidence still wasn’t enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence and sway of my ex.”

A March 2015 incident in which Henriquez stated Depp allegedly assaulted her and Heard on a stairwell in their apartment was previously discussed and questioned in the court case. “Repeatedly” struck Heard in the back, Henriquez said, after her brother-in-law assaulted her. During her deposition, Heard claimed she attacked Depp to save her sister’s life. It was he who rejected such description of the events.
