Donald Trump has a way of making headlines, whether it’s through his political moves, his brash statements, or his rather eclectic taste in music at campaign events. On the flip side, Celine Dion is a name that needs no introduction. This superstar has dominated the music scene for decades, her voice becoming synonymous with some of the most iconic moments in pop culture.
Now, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that ‘My Heart Will Go On’ isn’t just any song. It’s the legendary theme from James Cameron’s ‘Titanic‘. So, why on earth would this song be blasted at a political rally? That’s a question Celine Dion herself is asking after Trump played the track at a recent campaign stop.

Celine Dion Slams Donald Trump For Using ‘My Heart Will Go On’
On Saturday, Celine Dion’s management team, alongside Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., issued a firm statement after discovering that ‘My Heart Will Go On‘ was played at a recent Trump campaign rally in Montana. In a statement Instagram post, Dion’s team clarified that Trump had no permission to use the song, video, or even her likeness at the rally.
“Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana,” the statement read.
“In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use,” she added. And because Dion knows how to pack a punch, she wrapped it up with a little sarcasm. She ended the statement with, “…And really, THAT song?“.
Fans in the comments couldn’t help but point out the humor in the situation. One witty follower dubbed it “the perfect song to play for that sinking ship.”

Donald Trump Has A History Of Beef With Musicians
This isn’t the first time Donald Trump and Celine Dion have been linked in a headline-worthy scandal. Back in 2016, reports swirled that she had been asked to perform at his inauguration.
According to The Wrap, Celine was on a list of potential performers, but she turned down the opportunity, “I’m not singing at that.” Trump’s team ultimately had to settle for acts like 3 Doors Down and Toby Keith. It’s safe to say that Celine’s absence was felt.
Of course, Celine isn’t the only artist to take issue with Trump’s music choices. Sinéad O’Connor’s estate blasted Trump earlier this year for playing ‘Nothing Compares 2 U‘ at his events, stating it would have “disgusted, hurt, and insulted” the late singer.
And she’s not alone—Pharrell, Adele, ‘Guns N’ Roses‘, and even ‘The Rolling Stones‘ have all told Trump to keep his hands off their tunes. Despite the repeated rebukes, Trump seems to have a habit of playing what he wants, when he wants.
