Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s relationship has been far from average. From their whirlwind romance on the set of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith‘ to their widely reported divorce and custody disputes. The former power couple has always put their 6 children first, regardless of media attention and red-carpet appearances.
Shiloh, their first biological kid, is one of their broods and has always been the center of attention. At the age of 18, she is now making a big, independent step that goes beyond simply maturing.
The New Name Era Shiloh Jolie-Pitt
For those who have been keeping tabs, this name change isn’t exactly out of the blue. Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt filed to legally become Shiloh Jolie earlier this year. On her 18th birthday in May, she initiated the process, clearly marking her transition into adulthood with a bold move that speaks volumes.
In a state like California, Shiloh had to navigate a series of legal hoops. Her petition hit a bump in the road in July when a court hearing was postponed due to an incomplete background check.
Her lawyer, Peter Levine, explained the hiccup, noting, “Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today’s hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19.“
“Everyone undergoing a name-change request needs to have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and because of clerical error, Shiloh’s hearing has been continued to a new date.”

Family Ties And Emotional Tugs
While Shiloh’s decision to drop “Pitt” might seem like just another celebrity kid making a statement, it’s stirred up some emotions—especially for Brad Pitt. According to a source close to the actor, the star of ‘Wolfs‘ is not taking the news lightly.
“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” the insider shared with People. “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them.”
