Angelina Jolie and her son Maddox were invited to a state dinner on Wednesday hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House in Washington, DC, honoring South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee. The mother-son duo attended the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the U.S.–ROK alliance.
Jolie has been politically inclined for more than 20 years. The ‘Maleficent‘ actress served as a high-profile U.N. High Commissioner of Refugees Special Envoy. Just months before the state dinner, Jolie stepped down from the role and wrote on Instagram, “I am stepping down today from my work with the UN Refugee Agency. I believe in many things the UN does, particularly the lives it saves through emergency relief. UNHCR is full of amazing people making a difference to people’s lives every day. Refugees are the people I admire most in the world and I am dedicated to working with them for the rest of my life. I will be working now with organizations led by people most directly affected by conflict, that give the greatest voice to them.”

Angelina Jolie And Other Celebrities Present At State Dinner
Angelina Jolie and her son Maddox were present at the honorable state dinner on Wednesday. Jolie was styled in a flowy cream-colored dress and jacket with classic pearl jewelry and styled her hair in loose waves, completing the look with a classic red lip. Maddox wore a dashing black suit for the occasion, simple but elegant. According to the White House press release, the significance of this state dinner is “critical to advancing peace, stability, and prosperity for our two countries, the Indo-Pacific, and around the world.”
Other celebrity guests included Chip and Joanna Gaines, who has her roots deep in Seoul, Korea. Along with them, L.A. Dodgers pitcher Chan Ho Park, the first South Korea-born player in U.S. Major League Baseball history, and Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim were also present. Broadway artists including Lea Salonga, Jessica Vosk, and Norm Lewis performed at the event.

Angelina Jolie On Motherhood
Angelina Jolie’s journey into motherhood is unique and bold. Along with Maddox, she shares six children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt – Pax Thien, Zahara Marley, Shiloh Nouvel, and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. The actress adopted Maddox from Colombia when he was seven months old. Joile quite admires her son saying, “I’m so happy for him that he has grown up into such a good man. I say that ’cause he’s smart and he’s doing his work but he’s also wild. He’s balanced in his teenage years.” She is deeply attached to all of her children.
Although three of her kids are adopted, the ‘Girl, Interrupted‘ actress revealed the joy of creating a multicultural environment and how its positive effects have impacted her kids. With constant chaos and children running around the house, Angelina Jolie said, “I have six very individual human beings in my home. I am so excited about all the different stages and feelings and curiosities that they go through. Why wouldn’t you be? We’re supposed to help them figure out who they are. And you can’t figure out who they are if you don’t enthusiastically develop with them.”
