Billie Eilish sneaked in a shady statement against Taylor Swift, sparking a hot debate between both the fandoms as Swifties continue to bash Billie for dissing Swift who has always been super supportive of the ‘Bad Guy singer.
The alleged shade comes after Eilish spoke up about artists releasing several different versions of the same album as a cash grab, something that also hurts the environment. While many agreed with her, some also pointed out that she herself has more than ten variants for her highly critically acclaimed album ‘Happier Than Ever’.
In her interview with Billboard, she said, “We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging … which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money.”
She further added, “I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is,” Eilish went on. “It is right in front of our faces and people are just getting away with it left and right, and I find it really frustrating as somebody who really goes out of my way to be sustainable and do the best that I can and try to involve everybody in my team in being sustainable.”
“And then it’s some of the biggest artists in the world making f–king 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more. It’s so wasteful, and it’s irritating to me that we’re still at a point where you care that much about your numbers and you care that much about making money — and it’s all your favorite artists doing that sh*t,” she concluded.
Her statement was well received by many, with many also pointing out the hypocrisy of her statement as she herself has released multiple versions of the album. More than anyone else, this seemed like a shade towards Swift, who recently came under fire for releasing four different versions with an exclusive song on each of her albums ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
Fans React To Billie Shading Taylor
Many pointed out Eilish’s hypocrisy, referring to all the variants of her own album out there.
I don't care about the recycled materials, because her point about doing it to make money is hypocritical. She does that too. Happier Than Ever had many, many variants and she did the paint splatter gimmick. And she did it to make more money. Absolute hypocrite. https://t.co/iYJ5JIfJ9X pic.twitter.com/yFJtgh15Nq

Another user posted a list of albums with the most variants. Billie was second, while Taylor was sixth.
maybe she likes her but it's mostly the people who misinterpreted her words but Billie shouldn't talk about chart obsession when she herself is on top pic.twitter.com/CeB6H7z5gH

While some users pointed out that Billie did not really mention anyone in her statement and it’s not necessary that she was talking about Taylor.
