“Cannot Have Cis People Making Decisions For Trans People”: Chappell Roan Talks About Her Political Stance Ahead Of Presidential Elections

Chappell Roan is a rising pop star who’s making waves with hits like ‘Good Luck, Babe‘. Known for speaking her mind, the singer is not shying away from expressing her political stance either.

The singer, who has been a vocal advocate for the queer community, has taken a slightly different route when it comes to endorsing a candidate for the 2024 presidential election. While many celebrities like Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish have openly declared their political allegiances, Roan is pressing pause.

Unlike her peers, Chappell Roan isn’t feeling pressured to pick a side just yet. In an interview with The Guardian, she candidly shared her frustrations with the political system. “I have so many issues with our government in every way,” she said.

There are so many things that I would want to change. So I don’t feel pressured to endorse someone,” she explained. Roan doesn’t believe in blindly following a party line, and she encourages people to vote locally, where change really starts.

One issue that Roan is fiercely passionate about is trans rights. For her, any compromises there are non-negotiable. “They cannot have cis people making decisions for trans people, period,” she said firmly. And she’s got a point!

Roan has long been a strong voice for the LGBTQ+ community. She recently dedicated her VMAs win to queer and trans people, calling them the “fuel” of pop music.

For all the queer kids in the Midwest watching right now, I see you, I understand you because I’m one of you,” she said. And if that wasn’t enough to give you chills, she wrapped it up by saying, “Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t be exactly who you want to be, bitch.
