Can Dwayne Johnson Save DC With ‘Black Adam’?
Johnson has made his foray into the superhero genre with DC’s ‘Black Adam.’ The has met with mixed to negative critical response, but Johnson’s performance has been praised.
It had a global debut of $142.9 million and even if it doesn’t reach the one billion mark, chances are DC will benefit from it. The reason being the former WWE wrestler is the new face of the company.
At a time when Marvel is ever growing, Johnson chose to stay with DC and help the brand with his star power. Most franchises that he joined, like ‘The Fast and Furious‘, ‘The Mummy’, and ‘Jumanji’ turned out to smash hits.
DC needs his star power and positive image the most right now amid layoffs, budget cuts, shelving films, and Ezra Miller’s legal troubles. We can hope that DJ sticks around and takes the comic book brand to new heights. His solo films (‘San Andreas’ and ‘Rampage’) have also grossed $400 million worldwide.

There Are Plans For A Marvel-DC Crossover
Johnson’s star power is so big that even Marvel studios are taking notice. He was asked about the potential for a DC-Marvel crossover event recently.
“Well, I’m always optimistic. I’d like to think that we would see that“, the 50-year-old actor said. “My philosophy is anything can get done. Let’s start with the end goal.
He continued, “And if the end goal is to have some sort of crossover that can be compelling, smart, cool for the fans.”
The Rock further said, “Let’s get a temperature gauge if they’d like to see something like that. And then if they do, then let’s create it. I operate my businesses like that. I truly believe that anything can happen. Anything can happen with the right people and place, and the right leadership, having the right conversations.”
