The recent “assassination attempt” at former president Donald Trump has left many shocked, especially ahead of the presidential elections. Several celebrities from various fraternities shared their views on the attack that Trump closely survived as a bullet left his ear injured.
Celebrities like Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent, and Kid Cudi spoke up to condemn the violnce, but a few also spoke against Donald Trump. ‘Tenacious D‘s band member Kyle Gass was one of them. Gass made a controversial comment about the attack, which led to the cancellation of his band’s Australian tour. Here’s what he said.
Kyle Gass Apologizes After Backlash Over His Distasteful Comment About Donald Trump
The comedy rock duo ‘Tenacious D‘, comprising Kyle Gass and Jack Black, were on stage in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday when Gass was celebrating his 64th birthday. When asked to make a wish after being presented with a cake on stage, he replied: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”
The comment drew widespread criticism for the insensitivity of it, though Gass later apologised for his “severe lack of judgement“. Taking to Instagram, he wrote, “The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.”
“I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologise to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused,” he added.

“I Would Never Condone Hate Speech”: Jack Black While Announcing Cancellation Of Australia Tour
However, with the damage already done, Kyle Gass’s ‘Tenacious D’ bandmate Jack Black took to social media to announce he’s canceling their Australian tour because of the controversial remarks made by Gass.
Black wrote in a follow-up statement, “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.”
He added, “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.“
‘Tenacious D’ was set to perform at Australia’s ICC Sydney Theatre a day after Gass made the assassination comment, which came as a surprise for Black too, as it wasn’t rehearsed. There is no information about the further tour dates, while fans who have paid for it will get the refund details soon.
However, the duo is scheduled to play a series in October to support ‘Rock The Vote‘, the nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to building the political power of young people.
