Kim Kardashian has returned with a bang, taking her prison reform activism to the next level. This time, she visited the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility near San Diego on Saturday with an entourage that included sister Khloé Kardashian, mom Kris Jenner, producer Scott Budnick, and actor Cooper Koch.
Interestingly, Koch is set to play Erik Menendez in the little-known new Netflix series by Ryan Murphy titled ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story‘, the icing on the cake to this mystifying visit. Here’s all we know about the possible reason Kim Kardashian paid a visit to them, and how her fans are reacting to it.
Why Did Kim Kardashian Pay Visit To The Infamous Menendez Brothers In Prison?
The brothers of Menendez, who murdered their parents, Kitty and Jose Menendez, not so long ago in 1989, are currently serving life without parole for first-degree murder. Erik recently went on a tear against the ‘Monsters‘ series, in which he and his brother were featured, laying out scenarios that paint him as having “ruinous character portrayals.”
He also wrote about the same on his wife Tammi’s X account, “I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent.”
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian is no stranger to visiting prisons herself as she has been vocally advocating rehabilitation programs and reforming justice. She’s even discussed these issues on her family’s shows and at high-profile gatherings such as Variety’s Justice Reform Summit.
Earlier this year, she sat down with ‘Monsters‘ star Chloë Sevigny, who plays Kitty Menendez, to discuss all things Menendez family for ‘Variety’s Actors on Actors‘. At the time, Sevigny confessed the difficulty in playing the intricately complex matriarch. So it’s quite possible she has visited the duo to get a clearer idea of their struggles and backstory and get them out.
Fans React To Kim Kardashian’s Visit
However, fans are not buying into the simplest explanations of her visit. Many are eager about the reason, speculating whether she’s planning to use her activism to help them or doing a background study to star in the show.
Social media was abuzz with mixed reactions from fans about Kardashian’s visit. One user said, “That’s quite an unexpected visit, wonder what they talked about,” while another responded sarcastically saying, “She is addicted to cheap attention mate ????”

Others took it further, saying, “Is this a meet-up or a setup? From high fashion to high security, Kim’s world just got a lot darker!” And of course, someone couldn’t resist saying, “Please don’t tell me she’s trying to get them out of jail,” while another joked saying, “Is she even a lawyer? I thought she failed the bar exam like 10 times.“
