The ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise is one of the most loved fantasy film series which continues to grow and has garnered a huge fandom. As the viewers want more of a dystopian society, the films based on the novel series of the same name by Suzanne Collins has become a hit across the globe.
But its not just viewers wanting another film. Actress Jena Malone, who played an interesting role in the film, also wants to see another ‘Hunger Games’ movie. She even has a spin-off story in mind which she talked about on the red carpet of the ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ premiere. Here’s what she said.

Jena Malone Wants To See A ‘Hunger Games’ Spin-off
Jena Malone played Johanna Mason in three movies of the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise. The 39-year-old actress played a major role in the story from the second film onwards. While her tenure on the franchise ended there, the actress has revealed that she would like to be part of another ‘Hunger Games’ movie.
Malone was asked a question about the same during an interview on the red carpet of the premiere. “Come on, where’s Johanna Mason? “‘I’m like, I’m just waiting,”’ Malone said while discussing the potential for another film.
And well, we think she is not wrong. Johanna Mason is one of the most interesting characters in the franchise. She won the 71st Hunger Games from District 7 and led the revolution alongside Katniss Everdeen played by Jennifer Lawrence. Johanna has a tragic story but we only get to see a flicker of it. A spin-off movie on Johanna seems to be a very interesting idea indeed.

Jena Malone Even Has A Story In Mind
Apart from wanting to see more of Johanna Mason’s story in a spin-off movie, Jena Malone has other plans in mind too. Recently we got a prequel movie in the franchise, ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’. The movie focused on President Jon Snow’s backstory. But Jena Malone wants to see a sequel.
“Yeah, duh!” Malone answered when asked if there should be another spinoff. “I mean, and let’s not even do a prequel, let’s do an after. Let’s see what happens in the world, you know, 10 years later.”
She continued, “Where does the government land? Where have we gotten in the revolution?” Malone added, “I think that’s a really important part of our society. Like, yes you can rebel, but then how do you rebuild?”
However, Malone confirms that she has not heard of any such projects yet. “I mean, not with me. I’m a solo parent,” Malone said. “I don’t even know like, I’m like what movies are out? I have no idea, like no idea.”
Indeed, the creators are looking more towards the past than the future now. Another ‘Hunger Games’ prequel based on Haymitch Abernathy and how he won the games is in the making now. The ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ is scheduled to be released on 20 November, 2026.
