The Nigerian-origin Football coach, Ime Udoka has been in the limelight recently. Ime Sunday Udoka was a former player. When he started his career, he played for the Knicks in 2006. The last game he played was for Spurs in Spain for his final season. Udoka then started as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs in the coaching business. After coaching Sixers and Brooklyn Nets, Udoka rose to the position of head coach for Boston Celtics in the summer of 2021.
However, the former player is suspended for the 2022-23 season. The team cited “violation of team policies” as the reason for suspension. There is no official statement regarding the specific reason for suspension. As per Athletic, the suspension followed after the reports of Udoka in “an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff.”

Early Life & Career Of Ime Udoka
Ime Udoka was a child of immigrant parents from Nigeria. He was born on August 9, 1977, in Portland, Oregon. Ime was enrolled in Portland’s Jefferson High School for early education. He attended the University of San Francisco before coming back to his hometown and attending Portland State University. At the university, he became a part of the Vikings. Udoka also represented and competed for Nigeria. He assisted the national team to win a bronze in 2005 in Algeria. In 2011, they won the FIBA Africa Championships in Madagascar.
In his early career at the collegiate level, Udoka was promising on the court. The Lakers signed him in 2004, but they sacked him after four games. Later on, after his Nigerian career, Knicks signed him in 2006, but he was waived off. Finally, Ime’s hometown team, Portugal Trail Blazers, signed him. He played for them in 75 games for the 2006-07 season. He played his final game in Spain for Spurs and announced retirement.

Career As A Coach And Net Worth
Udoka debuted in the coaching industry with his former team, San Antonio Spurs in 2012. He joined the team as an assistant coach for seven years. After the long-serving gig, he filled in the shoes of Monty Willams and became the coach for the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2019-20 season. Ime served as an assistant coach for Brooklyn Nets for the 2020-21 season.
However, he rose to the upper rung of the ladder when he joined the Boston Celtics. He helped the team to have a strong game of 28-7 after the 23-24 stats in January. Talking about net worth, his NBA gig helped him to earn $1 million per season for five seasons. As per the reports, the head coach’s earnings stand at a total net worth of $3.9 million.
