“In My Book, She’s Great”: ‘The Bear’ Star Ebon Moss-Bachrach Reveals How His Role Turned Him Into A Swiftie

Ebon Moss-Bachrach was propelled to popularity with his role as Richie on FX’s culinary dramedy The Bear. While the actor claimed that he had no particular interest in Taylor Swift or her art which is heavily acclaimed across the world, he recently developed an unexpected fondness for her music.

In a standout episode titled ‘Forks’, Richie has a scene where he sings along to Swift’s hit song ‘Love Story’. Speaking about the episode to The Guardian recently, Moss-Bachrach admitted that the scene entirely changed his perspective towards Swift and her music. Here’s what he said.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach revealed that he wasn’t familiar with the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s song ‘Love Storybefore he had to film a scene where he triumphantly sings it. While he had to rehearse the song extensively, he had no option but to keep the lyrics close by during the shoot.

He noted that the lyrics are now indelibly etched in his memory, and he has, in fact, grown fond of Taylor’s other music too.

Speaking about his performance on Taylor Swift’s song, Moss Bachrach said, “That took some rehearsal. My daughters aren’t really Swifties, for whatever reason. I think she’s probably a great songwriter, she’s a cat lover, I think she likes Rhode Island, so in my book, she’s great.”

Other than praising Taylor Swift and her music, Ebon Moss-Bachrach also talked about his first Emmy win for his performance in ‘The Bear‘. He described the experience as one of the most joyful nights of his life, but also mentioned the pressure it brings for future seasons.

[It was] one of the most joyful nights of my life… but beyond that it just kind of stressed me out, because then we go back to make season 3 and we’ve won a bunch of awards, you start to feel like: ‘Oh, f—,’” he said. “I mean, then you really don’t want to be discovered to be a fraud. And then there’s pressure…”

Moss-Bachrach further said that though he doesn’t aim for more awards, he wants to continue making meaningful art that resonates with people. “Not that I feel like I need to win another Emmy or anything, but I just feel like it means so much to people, you know, so much more than I ever thought it would,” he said.

And I just want people to not feel let down by the thing. I’ve had so many beautiful interactions with people that have been really moved in a way that it sort of inspired me about the power of telling a story or the power of making a show or making a piece of art. It’s really invigorated me and renewed my faith in my job,” he added.

The Bear’s third season is set to premiere on Hulu on June 27.
