Elizabeth Banks Reveals Her Choking Incident On The Set Of ‘Skincare’
Elizabeth Banks revealed that she came face to face with a life threatening choking incident during the shooting of her upcoming film ‘Skincare’. “I had my first ever choking incident,” Banks said during her appearance on ‘Good Morning America’. She explained that the “scary” incident occurred when she was “alone” in her trailer while on a break from filming.
Banks was enjoying a meal for lunch when a “little green pea” got lodged in her throat. “I threw the door open — couldn’t make any noise, was so afraid,” the 50-year-old actress said before admitting, “It was terrifying.”
However, Banks’ lucky stars were in order as a crew member came to her rescue and saved her life. She recalled the crew member asking her, “‘Are you choking?’” When she confirmed, he proceeded to “very calmly” give her the Heimlich maneuver.
“He had to do it twice,” Banks said. “His name is Julius. He is my guardian angel. Julius, I love you.”

Elizabeth Banks Asks Everyone To Learn The Heimlich Maneuver
After thanking Julius for saving her life, Elizabeth Banks argued that everyone should learn the life saving technique that Heimlich Maneuver is. The first aid technique consists of an individual applying pressure against the abdomen of the person choking to force out the object blocking the airways.
“Make sure you know how to do it,” Banks insisted. “Talk to your friends and family about it.” She then talked about the misconceptions surrounding the method.
Banks also pointed out how some people are “worried” about cracking the person’s rib while doing it. “They’re dying, so crack a rib if you have to,” Banks said. “I would’ve been fine with a cracked rib. I literally couldn’t breathe, and it was super scary.”
