“It’s All Hard Now, Except Maybe Deadpool!”: Nicole Kidman Opens Up About Hollywood’s Shrinking Projects

Nicole Kidman, the Oscar-winning actress, weighed in the other day on the mounting difficulties of getting films and television shows greenlit in this day and age of Hollywood. The actress opened up about her forthcoming erotic thriller ‘Babygirl’, which arrives on Christmas Day while speaking to Vanity Fair.

Kidman weighed in on how the movie business might feel more challenging than ever especially with projects that aren’t expected to be major blockbusters. However, she made one exception, highlighting the weightage that Marvel carries in the industry.

Nicole Kidman shelled out some bitter facts about Hollywood while speaking to Vanity Fair recently, but she made exceptions for certain productions. “Everything’s hard now,” Kidman said speaking about Hollywood.

Actually everything. I mean, maybe not Deadpool, but there’s nothing that’s, ‘Oh my gosh. Yep. This is it. Greenlight, let’s go.’ Or maybe it’s just the things that I do,” she said, adding with a laugh, “Things are shrinking in terms of shows being done and films being made. I definitely feel it. I’m sure most people in the industry feel it.”

Kidman remains on a tight schedule and is already in the pre-production stages for ‘Scarpetta’, an adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling novels. This time, the story will be in the form of a mystery thriller series for Prime Video, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and both of them as executive producers.
