Hollywood has known Tom Hanks as one of the best actors since forever. Though he has grown old now, his charm has persisted through it all. However, unlike many others, he does not regret growing old and has no intentions of trying to look any younger than he is.
When asked by Entertainment Tonight if there was one age he would like to go back to, the 68-year-old Hollywood legend said he is happy at the exact age he is. Here’s everything he said.
Tom Hanks Talks About Turning 35 Again
Tom Hanks, who plays a wide range of ages in Robert Zemeckis’s new movie ‘Here‘, is the happiest at his current age of 68. While promoting the same film, the actor clarified that he has no interest in getting younger.
“I’m good. Thank you very much,” he said, making it amply clear that turning the clock back to his 30s is not a priority. Further talking about that age, Hanks said, “That’s probably the toughest for us. 35. When your metabolism just stops, and gravity just tears you down, your bones start wearing off. You stand differently.” Laughing, he added, “Life is such a burden!”
Despite playing his younger self, Hanks is not nostalgic for the good old days. In fact, he feels he’s in better shape now than he was then. “You know why? Because my kids are grown up, I’m getting decent exercise, and I can eat right,” he explained. “You can’t do that when you’re 35.”
What Is ‘Here’ About?
Tom Hanks’ next film ‘Here‘, is opening in theaters on November 1, and is set to take audiences through generations deep into families and where they live, experiencing joy and loss, laughter and life. Hanks’s co-star is Robin Wright, who also worked with him in ‘Forrest Gump‘.
In the film, Hanks’ character travels through time because of AI technology. The film’s AFI Fest premiere gave Zemeckis a chance to delve into the digital trickery, revealing how Metaphysic, the AI studio, helped craft the real-time de-aging effects.

“They look at it and go, ‘Oh, I’ve got to be a little bit more spry, I have to move quicker, raise my voice,'” Zemeckis explained. It was essentially “digital makeup,” giving the actors a chance to see themselves decades younger as they performed.
In another interview with People, Hanks joked saying that he is quite fine with his current age, playing up that if it “feels good to be 43 again, then surely better to be as old as I am.”
