Considering what I’ve been through with my own health and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have reached out to me with their stories. I’m using this moment to give our alopecia family an opportunity to talk about what it’s like to have this condition and to inform people about what alopecia actually is.”
Right off the bat, Jada expressed how she wants both Chris and Will to reconcile, “My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile. The state of the world today, we need them both.
Jada added, “And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”

At the start of the show, they played a video clip to show the trajectory of Rio Allred from pre-alopecia to post-alopecia phase, eventually declaring that the 12-year-old took her own life. Niki Ball, her mother started telling the heart-wrenching story of the medications that she had to take and the injections.
Jada asked Niki to tell them about her “precious little girl.” Ball said, “She was so smart. She was just brilliant. And she was funny. She was a great big sister. She loved reading, writing, and sketching. She loved being in the band.”
When the bald patches started occurring, Rio still was optimistic about the situation. Niki continued, “With the hair loss, she was so strong. She still rocked it even when it was falling out, and she just had these big bald patches. Tried the creams. They made her break out. Tried the injections, she took five of them in one day.”
Rio decided to shave her head as she was tired due to the injections. Post pandemic, Rio was admitted to Grade 7th, “And then with school coming up, we got her that super cute wig, she loved it, and she glowed then. But at school, within a couple of weeks, she was like, ‘I don’t want to wear it anymore, there’s no point.’”
Ball added, “She had it ripped off her head. She’d get smacked upside on the head walking down the hallway. And that was within the first two weeks, three weeks. It got really bad for her.”
