The actor deleted her Twitter account after the release of ‘Wednesday‘. She recalled the harrowing experience she had with social media and wanted to avoid the same as her fame skyrocketed with the Netflix production.
Jenna has been in the industry for more than ten years and she is only twenty-one years old. The young actor was suggested to make a Twitter account to build a media presence. Unfortunately, Ortega received unwanted exposure to “disgusting” images when she was fourteen years old. Jenna’s ordeal put unsolicited media exposure to minors in perspective.
Jenna Ortega Opens Up About Her Explicit Pictures
Jenna Ortega related that she was asked to create a Twitter account to “build her image”. However, she did not expect to receive a streak of unsolicited images of naked men. She said, “One of the first — actually the first [Direct Message] that I ever opened myself when I was 12 was an unsolicited photo of a man’s genitals, and that was just the beginning of what was to come.”
“Did I like being 14 and making a Twitter account because I was supposed to and seeing dirty edited content of me as a child?” The actor told The New York Times, “No. It’s terrifying. It’s corrupt. It’s wrong.” Distributing obscene content to a minor is a punishable offense under the United States Federal Law. Jenna deleted her Twitter account in 2022.

Jenna Deleted Her X Account After The Release Of ‘Wednesday’
The ‘Wednesday’ actor related that she quit X after the release of the Netflix show. Jenna’s fame plummeted after ‘Wednesday’ aired. Consequently, the volume of explicit images she received increased. Jenna said, “It was disgusting, and it made me feel bad. It made me feel uncomfortable.” Thus the actor deleted her account. “The influx after the show had come out – these absurd images and photos, and I already was in a confused state that I just deleted it,” she stated.
Many actors, like Scarlett Johanson and Cillian Murphy, refuse to have a social media presence for various reasons. However, Jenna’s reason brought a grave situation of cyber protection of minors into light. She stated, “Anyway, that’s why I deleted it because I couldn’t say anything without seeing something like that. So one day I just woke up, and I thought, Oh, I don’t need this anymore. So I dropped it.”
