Jimmy Kimmel Takes A Sharp Dig At Travis Kelce Over His Contract Extension
On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host poked fun at NFL star Travis Kelce’s jaw-dropping two-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, which made him the highest-paid tight end in NFL’s history. Kelce, who is also the boyfriend of Taylor Swift, still stands pale in terms of wealth and power as compared to his girlfriend — which is exactly what Kimmel cashed in on for his comedy.
“Congratulations to Travis Kelce,” Kimmel said, before hitting the NFL star with a sharp punchline, “Can you imagine being in a relationship where you make $34 million and you’re still the broke boyfriend?”
After a wave of laughter from the audience, Kimmel further suggested that Taylor Swift might consider his contract extension mere “gum money” compared to her billionaire status. Swift has a reported net worth of $1.1 billion, which is way more than Kelce’s financial achievements.

Jimmy Kimmel Says He’s Not Sure If Travis Kelce Is A “Football Player Or A Kitten”
Jimmy Kimmel also made fun of the way people reacted to the news of Travis Kelce getting his contract extended. “Another weird thing about dating Taylor Swift is you can be one of the great players of all time, and this is the reaction you get to your contract extension,” Kimmel said, showing a screenshot of a selfie video of Kelce that the Chiefs shared on X after the big news.

Kelce also displayed the comments on the post. “His eyes full of tears [crying emoji] this baby,” one fan commented. “he’s so babygirl,” another one wrote. As Kimmel read out the comments, he laughed at one particular comment that called Kelce “pookiest pookie.”
“I’m not sure if he’s a football player or a kitten,” Kimmel said, adding his own view.
Kimmel also took a few moments to praise Swift’s recent success, as he spoke about her historic achievement in terms of breaking several records on Billboard’s Hot 100 list with all of the top 14 spots occupied by her songs.
