Jodie Turner-Smith harbours no resentment towards Joshua Jackson, her divorced husband, or his partner Lupita Nyong’o. The actress faced questions about her thoughts on the couple’s romance in a recent interview with The Cut, given that Jodie and Joshua are currently going through a divorce.

“Good for them” she said, “We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent. …  I truly hope they’re happy and that it benefits us as a family.”

She then added, “I’m trying to get us to the Gwyneth [Paltrow] and Chris Martin level” referring to Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow who were married for over ten years prior to their famous announcement in 2014 that they were “consciously uncoupling”.

Paltrow and her ex-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, have been co-parenting and raising their children, 19-year-old daughter Apple and 17-year-old son Moses, for several of years.

Jodie talked about her marriage to Joshua disintegrating throughout the interview as well. After four years of marriage to Joshua, Jodie filed for divorce in October 2023. Their child, Juno Rose, was born in 2020 after the couple’s 2019 wedding. They both parted ways because they are following “different paths,” she disclosed in the interview.

She also talked about how she felt her name was tied down to his, adding, “It all came from a really innocent place. I didn’t understand how sinister that could end up being for me. It was taking away from a moment that I needed to have on my own. It opened up a very painful conversation to the world about who I was with and how right or wrong it was to be with that person. And when you’re pregnant, it’s like the most vulnerable time of your life.”

She then added that a very important lesson she learnt was not to share her personal life with the public, saying, “When you’re in the public eye, a part of you belongs to the public. It stops being yours and becomes theirs too. I didn’t have an accurate scope of understanding what it would mean to share my relationship with the public. It’s something I will never do again. Ever. That is one major lesson that I took away from this, which is just that people don’t need to know everything.”
