John Legend And Kanye West Are No Longer Friends Because Of Donald Trump. Here’s Why

Kanye West is one of the most popular as well as a controversial musician of his time. The rapper is loved for his hip-hop music and is considered to be one of the greatest. But his controversial comments, behavior, and politics are also criticized by many.

John Legend, who was one of the closest friends of ‘Watch The Throne‘ singer, has revealed how Kanye’s political views affected their friendship. John stated that it was largely due to Ye supporting former US President Donald Trump. It seems that even the richest and most famous aren’t immune to political differences.

The ‘All of Me‘ singer talked about his fallout with Kanye West on a new episode of David Alexrod’s The Axe Files podcast.

John said, “[Kanye and I] aren’t friends as much as we used to be. I honestly think because we publicly disagreed on his running for office, his supporting Trump, I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship, honestly.”

He talked about Kanye’s failed Presidential run in 2020 and told Alexrod, “I wasn’t alone in that, but, you know, he was not happy about that. And we really haven’t been close since then.”

Legend also had some nice things to say about his former friend. “I think he’s been very open with who he is and his struggles with mental health.” The singer continued, “And he’s very real, honestly. So I think there’s not a lot about him that people don’t get… Like he’s been pretty upfront with his opinions, his struggles, all the things that he’s dealing with. And I think what you see with him is pretty much what you get.”

Kanye and John were friends since the early 2000s when Kanye was one of the producers on Legend’s 2004 debut album ‘Get Lifted.’

A few days ago, a video surfaced on the internet where Kanye can be seen yelling at Chance The Rapper in Wyoming.

It was reportedly part of a Donda-focused documentary that was directed by Dame Dash. “Sit your ass down and listen to the album or leave,” Kanye, also known as Ye, yells at his fellow rapper.

In the interview, Dash talked about the issue. “So, you know, Kanye is finishing his album and there’s people around. Chance, honestly, because of what he was reading, he came through just to check Kanye.

“You know, again, Kanye deals with his issues at all times. They got into it, but they worked it out. At the end of the day, Chance was there just to be a friend,” the director said.

Later, Chance talked about the incident and said he was hurt that the footage “exploited” a “genuine moment”. I did come out there to check on my friend,” he said. “Me and a lot of other people still have love for Ye. But he’s a human, he’s not perfect. He was obviously going through it at that time … It made me re-evaluate my friendship with him, for sure. I had never been so close to him going through an episode.”
