Actor, Johnny Depp, was accused of assault by his former wife Amber Heard. He suffered major backlash upon the accusation which was proved false in court. It went to the extent of him getting canceled from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise. “Although, Disney did not openly state that Depp was dropped because of the accusations, it was ‘understood’,” said Carino, Depp and Heard’s former agent.
Depp then filed a defamation case against Heard. He eventually won the lawsuit against his ex-wife. The case was telecasted and it drew a lot of attention. After the trial, it seems that Depp lacked offers to work on movies. He hinted at 2022 VMAs about his unemployed status.

Johnny Depp’s Cameo At The VMAs Post Amber Heard Defamation Trial
Depp, whose beloved character Jack Sparrow sailed on ships in ‘Pirates‘ films, made a cameo at the MTV Video Music Awards as the moon person, floating in space. This was the actor’s first television appearance since the highly-publicized defamation trial. The Hollywood Reporter noted that the actor was digitally superimposed on MTV’s Moon Person and floated above the stage at the Prudential Center.
His face was digitally projected on to the channel’s famous mascot, the Moon man. He floated above the stage in a projection. In between commercial breaks, Depp delivered one-liners that spiked controversy on Twitter. During his first appearance in three months after the victory in the defamation trial, the actor said in one of the interludes, “I needed the work.”

Johnny Depp Declares His Unemployed Status
Johnny Depp announced at the annual ceremony of MTV VMAs that he is in need of work. In subsequent virtual appearances at the event, the actor declared that he was available for “birthdays, bar mitzvahs, weddings, wakes, anything you need … anything.” Bringing the nonchalant vibe of Jack Sparrow, he added, “Oh, I’m also a dentist.”
On what the 59-year-old actor is currently doing, in August, it was announced that Depp would direct his first film in 25 years. The project is the biopic of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, co-produced with Al Pacino. The actor is also playing King Louis XV in French director Maïwenn’s Jeanne du Barry’s next film, which will begin production in July. So, we can expect to see Depp’s appearance not just on a hologram but rather on a big screen soon.
