One more name could have been added to the list of action films that solidified Keanu’s name as the action star – ‘Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw’. However, Dwayne Johnson and the film’s director spoke about his possible entry into future projects.
Dwayne Johnson Wanted Keanu Reeves To Join ‘Fast And Furious’ Spin-Off
The Rock revealed that Keanu Reeves was initially considered for a part of the film, taking up the role of Director of Eteon which is a mysterious and techno-savvy terrorist organization. Unfortunately, due to creative differences, Reeves did not join the cast. Dwayne Johnson explained that he and Reeves had a discussion, and they both agreed that it didn’t feel right creatively. And also emphasized that Reeves will possibly be part of the team in the future.
Dwayne Johnson further said, “And then what we also did at the end was we left the ominous voice faceless. So, for some time, I think you guys have heard the rumor that it was going to be a bit of a John Wick, all disguised. But then we left it there [with] a few people in mind. Originally, Keanu was the goal. We were talking, and it just didn’t feel right creatively. …He and I talked, and I totally got it. And it wound up being the best thing, so now we leave that open for the future.”

David Leitch Considered Keanu Reeves For ‘Hobbs And Shaw’
David Leitch, the director of ‘Hobbs and Shaw‘ wanted Keanu Reeves to join the project before the script was finalized. Leitch even discussed the actor’s opportunities for inclusion in the movie.
The director of the film said, “Actually, no. It all stemmed from the fact that we had talked to Keanu early on. It was even before where we ended up with this draft. I had been talking to Keanu periodically through the shooting of it all and looking for opportunities of where it could be. I also wanted to make sure that it was enough — a real promise for something legitimate in the future — and wasn’t just a stunt casting role”. David Leitch further added, “We started to populate the movie with all these other personalities, and I just didn’t really think that we needed it, although I would’ve loved it. We even talked in the post, and I showed him a rough cut of the movie.“
