We all know how close King Charles III and Meghan Markle once were. Time has however drawn some lines between them one cannot deny the fact they had bonded like metals once. Recently, royal expert Katie Nichol wrote a book ‘The New Royals‘. In the book, Nicholl reveals a minute personal detail that the British king used to have a special name for the Duchess of Sussex.
It was ‘Tungsten’. One might be confused about the reason behind such a weird name for a daughter-in-law. Let’s find out why the monarch called Meghan Tungston.

Why King Charles III Referred To Meghan As Tungsten?
Tungston is a hard metal (steel-gray in color), and it is known for having a high melting point among all metallic elements. Charles found a sense of similarity between this metal and his future daughter-in-law when they met and decided to give her the name. Nicholl revealed, “Charles reportedly nicknamed his future daughter-in-law ‘Tungsten’ because of her toughness and resilience.”
King Charles is 73 now, whereas Markle is 41, hence it’s been a long time since the two shared a relationship like that. Meghan and Harry resigned from their royal duties to raise their kids and moved to California. Since then, there have been some hard emotions involved. The tension has even increased after the death of the Queen this September. Charles ascended the throne after her passing.

How Did Meghan Get The Name?
Nicholl wrote in her book, “It was, according to one aide, the moment William and Kate, who was heavily pregnant, realized they needed to up their game. The Cambridges [now the Prince and Princess of Wales] had already signaled their intention to be more than ‘ornamental royals’ and had, along with Harry, made a huge success of their mental health campaign Heads Together.”
She further added, “But Meghan was the breakout star of the foursome. She was polished, passionate, and funny, using all her TV-honed skills to present her case. That was a wake-up moment for William and Kate when they realized that Meghan was very impressive, very confident, and very capable, according to a source.”
