Like Father Like Daughter! Ben Affleck’s Daughter Shows Solidarity With Palestine, Wearing A Watermelon T-shirt

The Israel-Hamas war is intensifying, with the casualty rate in Palestine increasing daily. It all started when Hamas attacked Israel in October 2023. Since then, Gaza has become an open-air field with drone attacks and bomb droppings. Amidst the war, Hollywood has taken sides, with Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s daughter, Violet, wearing a watermelon t-shirt to support Palestine.

Since the 2000s, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have been a couple. The two got engaged in 2005, and a couple of months later, the two announced Garner’s first pregnancy. In December 2005, Violet Anne was born. The couple shares three children. Ben has been vocal about the xenophobia that has been stirred in the US, and now his eldest daughter is walking in his footsteps, showing solidarity with Palestine.

Ben Affleck’s ex, Jennifer Garner, and their daughter had a day out in Beverly Hills! The mother-and-daughter duo was seen near a Chanel store. Jennifer Garner wore a gray sweater with blue denim and gray sneakers. The actress accessorized her look with a watch and glasses. Whereas, her daughter, Violet Anne, chose to be political with her OOTD!

Violet Anne wore a black freedom melon crewneck from a non-profit business called ‘Wear the Peace’ which had an image of a watermelon. She accessorized the look with dark glasses and a handbag. Violet wore black loafers with socks.

The fruit, emoji, or anything that is watermelon has become a symbol of solidarity with Palestine. The use of the fruit as a symbol to support Palestine started during the Six-Day War.

During that time, Israel took over the West Bank and Gaza and banned the display of the Palestine flag, making it a criminal offense. Later, after the Oslo Accords, the use of the Palestinian flag was decriminalized.

However, watermelon gained prominence again in June 2023, when Zazim, a community organization, started pasting a picture of watermelon with “This is not a Palestinian flag” on taxis in Tel Aviv after Israeli authorities allowed police to take action against people carrying Palestinian flags.

It is not only the daughter who is standing against the hate that has been perpetuated toward a religious community through war. Back in 2014, Ben Affleck was lauded for shutting down Bill Maher and Sam Harris on the former’s show ‘Real Time’.

Ben Affleck slammed Bill Maher when he said that Islam is “the only religion that acts like the mafia and would f***king kill you if you say the wrong thing, draw the wrong picture, or write the wrong book.” Sam Harris agreed to Bill and said, “We have been sold this meme of Islamophobia, where criticism of the religion gets conflated with bigotry towards Muslims as people. It’s intellectually ridiculous.”

Ben Affleck came on Bill Maher’s show to promote ‘Gone Girl’. During the conversation, Affleck said, “Hold on—are you the person who officially understands the codified doctrine of Islam? It’s gross and racist. It’s like saying, ‘Oh, you shifty Jew!’ Your argument is, ‘You know, black people, they shoot each other.’”

Ben added: “How about more than a billion people who aren’t fanatical, who don’t punch women, who just want to go to school, have some sandwiches, pray five times a day, and don’t do any of the things you’re saying of all Muslims. It’s stereotyping.”
