The 63-year-old American singer-songwriter, Madonna, led the cultural movement from the 1980s to the 90s through her music. She has had one of the most impressive music careers in history, releasing dance hits after hits.
Madonna made an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ adorned in her ‘birthday grills.’ The singer was there to promote her new album ‘Finally Enough Love‘ – a compilation of all her favorite dance hits. During the fun talks, the singer happened to reveal a stage mishap that almost killed her career.

When Madonna Was Told Her Career Was ‘Over’
The pop singer opened the first-ever MTV Video Music Awards in 1984, with her iconic ‘Like a Virgin‘ performance. As a woman, Madonna was leading the music industry, which was rare in the 80s. The song was already a theme of controversy, and her performance unintentionally added more fuel to the scandal.
The performance did not go as it was planned. While descending down, one of Madonna’s stilettos slipped from underneath her. Seeming it fit, she kicked off her other stiletto as well. After the unprecedented shoe mishap, the best option that the then 26-year-old singer could think of was to roll on the floor and recover her shoes, pretending that this was the original plan after all. However, things turned sideways because, in the act of rolling and recovering the shoe, her dress flipped upwards, revealing her undergarments and butt.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer remarked, “Those were the days when you shouldn’t show your butt to have a career. Now it’s the opposite.” She added that when she returned backstage, her manager told her that her ‘career was over with.’
“It wasn’t even the whole butt! It was like a butt cheek– like half of a butt cheek,” Madonna argued to the audience.
The Pop Singer Is Working On Her Own Biopic
In September 2020, Universal Pictures confirmed that a biopic on the legendary pop singer will soon be coming to the big screens. However, the much bigger news was that Madonna herself is co-writing the movie, and will also be directing it.
The singer explained why she’s taking the reins in her own hands: “I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film. It was also a preemptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make movies about me. Mostly misogynistic men. So I put my foot in the door and said, ‘No one’s going to tell my story but me.'”
