When it comes to goth royalty, Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega are reigning queens. Ryder’s iconic role as Lydia Deetz in ‘Beetlejuice‘ solidified her status as a gothic icon. While Ortega has been winning hearts with her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s hit series, ‘Wednesday‘.
With Tim Burton at the helm of both ‘Beetlejuice‘ and ‘Wednesday‘, fans can’t help but wonder – could these two dark darlings share the screen in the show’s second season?
Jenna Ortega On A Potential Winona Ryder Cameo
We’d love to see Lydia Deetz pop up in the halls of Nevermore Academy. Speaking with GamesRadar+ and Inside Total Film, Jenna Ortega spilled some tea on the potential for a Winona Ryder cameo in ‘Wednesday‘ season 2.
Jenna Ortega didn’t beat around the bush when asked if we’ll ever see Ryder in ‘Wednesday‘. “Man, that would be cool, but that girl is so busy. She really has no time, even trying to get together to do this, you know, it was [tricky],” Ortega shared.
She went on to express her desire to work with Ryder again. Ortega said, “So I don’t know about that, but obviously, I would love to work with Winona again, and if it’s not on ‘Wednesday’, then it’s going to be on something else, I hope. We talk about it all the time, and that would be really sweet for me.”
What’s Keeping Winona Ryder Busy?
As fans may know, Winona Ryder is currently knee-deep in filming ‘Stranger Things‘ season 5. It also promises to be a bittersweet farewell to the beloved series. With ‘Wednesday‘ also filming its 2nd season, it’s clear that both actresses have their hands full.
Interestingly, Ortega revealed that ‘Wednesday‘ season 2 will draw inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, ‘The Masque of the Red Death‘. It could offer the perfect backdrop for a Ryder cameo.

Adding fuel to the speculation fire is Ortega’s role as Lydia Deetz’s daughter, Astrid, in the upcoming ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice‘. The film, set 36 years after the original, will feature Lydia and her family returning to Winter River, Connecticut, after Charles Deetz (Jeffrey Jones) passes away suddenly.
There, Lydia and co are forced to summon the eponymous bio-exorcist when Astrid gets caught up in some afterlife-related drama. All in all, goth fans are all set for two great releases of the year!
