In a recent interview with CinePop, Mark Wahlberg expressed his admiration for the success of superhero films. However, despite their success, he is adamant about not being a part of them. “I like them enough, I’m not one of those purists who is like ‘Oh this is not cinema,'” he stated.

It’s just that for me, personally, as an actor, I would have a really hard time walking out of my trailer with a cape on, and a spandex suit,” he added. Wahlberg’s aversion to the superhero genre is rooted in personal preference. It has nothing to do with him hating the genre.

Additionally, he made it clear that he understands the appeal of the films and resonates with the actors who play the heroes. However, he believes that his strengths lie in other types of roles. Moreover, Wahlberg’s signature style, often characterized by rugged masculinity, seems at odds with the typical superhero archetype.

Mark Wahlberg’s declaration of disinterest in superhero roles has sparked fans’ interest and they have a lot to say. Many fans expressed surprise and disappointment, given the actor’s action-oriented image. “Shame I could see him as the MCU Flint Marco aka Sandman in Holland’s Spider-Man movie,” an X user stated.

However, a lot of fans were also mad at the whole “I will not be a part of the MCU” take by actors. “He shouldn’t. Plus, he’s not a good enough actor to take on any Marvel role,” another user stated.

Whether or not Wahlberg will ever change his mind about superhero movies remains to be seen. For now, fans can continue to enjoy his action-packed performances in other genres.
