According to an insider, Matty Healy and his fiance Gabbriette Bechtel are “in love” and thrilled to be engaged just nine months after they sparked dating rumors. The two were first sighted in New York City last September. A source, meanwhile, revealed that they have been in love from the very start and have taken the relationship quite seriously.
“They’ve only dated since last fall, but Matty quickly fell in love with her,” the source was quoted as saying by People. “They’ve had a serious and intense relationship from day one,” the insider added, stating that they are quite “excited to be engaged”.
“They’re such a cool couple. They like to do things their way,” the source added.

Matty Healy shared the news of the engagement in an Instagram post, shortly after they were spotted stepping out in New York City. Fans were quick to notice Bechtel’s non-traditional ring, even before the engagement was announced.
The ring has a large black gem, surrounded by pavé diamonds on both the stone and band. “The engagement ring is so her — it’s perfect. She’s unconventional and fun,” the source noted. “They are both close with their families. Everyone is happy for them.”
Healy’s mother, actress Denise Welch, also discussed her son’s engagement on an episode of the British talk show ‘Loose Women’. “I obviously have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged…” she said, adding, “I couldn’t be more thrilled. We couldn’t be happier — she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law. I’m thrilled.”
