Michael Keaton Set To Be Credited As “Michael Keaton Douglas” After ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’

Michael Keaton is back, and this time he’s bringing everyone’s favorite bio-exorcist with him! The long-awaited ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ sequel is hitting the big screen with all the spooky charm you’d expect from a Tim Burton film.

Keaton, who has been known by this stage name since his career took off in the late 1970s, recently revealed he’s considering a name change. The actor’s real name is Michael Douglas.

In an interview with People, Michael Keaton spilled the beans about his upcoming name change. “I said, ‘Hey, just as a warning, my credit is going to be Michael Keaton Douglas.’ And it totally got away from me,” he revealed.

He even admitted that he forgot to implement the change in time for his recent directorial project, ‘Knox Goes Away.’ “And I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create that. But that will happen,” he insisted. Seems like the Oscar-nominated actor is determined to blend his stage name with his real identity after all these years.

Now, if you’re wondering why he didn’t stick with his birth name in the first place, it’s all thanks to the Screen Actors Guild rules. When Keaton was starting out, the name Michael Douglas was already taken by none other than… Michael Douglas.

And if that wasn’t enough, Mike Douglas, the talk show host, had the shortened version covered. So, he had to improvise, flipping through a phone book. “I must’ve gone, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something here.’ And I went, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable,'” he shared.
