Mother of Jeffrey Dahmer Victim Tony Hughes Speaks Out Against Netflix Limited Series

Tony Hughes was among more than a dozen men murdered by Jeffrey Dahmer. The aspiring model’s mother has condemned the recently released Netflix series about the serial killer who took her son’s life. She was widely shocked at how the show was made in the first place.

One of the episodes in the show was about Tony Hughes. Many tweeted that the particular episode about Hughes was “gruelling to watch.” Burford’s performance as Hughes has been praised as compassionate and haunting.

“I don’t see how they can do that,” Hughes said, before adding that it was difficult to talk about Tony’s murder and politely ending the call. “I don’t see how they can use our names and put stuff out like that out there.”

The show also depicts how Dahmer got away with his killing spree for so long. It was because authorities ignored the concerns of Black and other minority community members. This has faced criticism for not consulting the families of the slain.

Perry one of the victim’s cousin said that Netflix wasn’t required to consult victims’ families because the events it portrays are public record. However, the way things went down re-traumatized the loved ones of those murdered by Dahmer, Perry added.
