With the upcoming release of her book, ‘Dinner For Vampires’, Lenz is opening up about her marriage with her ex-husband, whom she describes as QB, the son of a cult leader. Lenz hopes that her book will help to prevent others from falling into cult entrapments.
Bethany Joy Lenz’s Ex-Husband Created A “Sex Schedule” For Their Marriage
Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Bethany Joy Lenz opened up about the details of her frustrating marriage. The ‘One Tree Hill’ actor confessed that she knew QB and she had differences but they only seemed to get bigger. Lenz revealed that usually she has a “crazy sex drive” yet she did not feel the same about her husband.
She said, “It felt like this promise that I had been given as a good evangelical was a big crock. Like, what the heck? I thought if I save myself for marriage, then the promise is amazing sex and super deep intimacy, and nothing’s ever as good.” To solve their intimacy issues, QB devised a “sex schedule” for the couple.

Lenz stated, “Because I was so disinterested in sex, I was then asked to go on a schedule, basically, of, like, ‘You just have to do it. Just do it. This is your duty. This is your job as a wife. Your emotions will fall in line. If you do it enough, then eventually, you will find a way to enjoy it.'” Lenz’s devotion to her religion and marriage convinced her to take any measures to save her marriage even if she “hated” them.
Bethany Joy Taylor Has PTSD From Visiting The Airport Due To Her Previous Marriage
Since QB traveled a lot due to his work, the “sex schedule” of the couple was applicable only when he was in town. Therefore, Bethany Joy Lenz had visceral reactions when he returned. She said, “My stomach dropped every single time. In fact, it really affected my relationships afterwards [with] other boyfriends when I had to go pick them up from the airport.”
She continued, “I had so much PTSD from showing up at the airport to see him knowing that I was gonna have to start this sex schedule for the next, like, 2 weeks or 3 weeks or whatever.”

Eventually, Lenz realized, “And then we have sex, and it’s like, ‘Why do I feel so sad? I don’t feel more connected to you. I feel farther away from you.’ And I don’t think that necessarily had anything to do with saving myself for marriage. It was just that I married the wrong person.”
Lenz’s ‘Dinner For Vampires’ is set to be published on October 22.
