Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed’s relationship is perhaps the most dramatic one in royal history. However, it is now being reviewed from a new perspective after several sexual abuse incidents surfaced against the film producer’s late father, Muhammad Al-Fayed. Around two hundred women have been reported as victims of the former owner of Harrods.
In light of this news, people are questioning why the Spencer royal was associated with Fayed’s son. As details of the Egyptian businessman’s abuse cases have mounted to 200, some claim that they had warned Princess Diana to be wary of Al-Fayed before and even after her divorce. But Diana began dating Dodi in July 1997 nevertheless. Here’s what people are claiming about warning the Princess.
Princess Diana’s Journalist Friend And Bodyguard Had Warned Her About Al-Fayed
Muhammad Al-Fayed was an Egyptian with residency and major business ventures based in the United Kingdom. He battled for years to obtain UK citizenship, but in vain. Therefore, he continuously tried to approach the Royal Family with invitations to vacations and parties.
His son Dodi Fayed and Princess Diana were revealed to be dating when she vacationed in St Tropez, France with him. Just a month later, both died in a car crash in Paris. In grief, Al-Fayed placed a permanent shrine to the princess and his son in one of his Harrod stores.

English journalist, Richard Kay, had become a close friend of the princess during her last days. Kay wrote in Daily Mail, that he and others tried to warn Diana to maintain distance from Al-Fayed. When Diana was married to Prince Charles, she had even turned down an invitation from Al-Fayed after being warned by her bodyguard, Ken Wharf.
Wharf stated, “I told her that he was basically a villain and it would make life very difficult for the Queen if he was able to parade the princess and the boys as his guests at a time when he was publicly fighting Her Majesty’s government over its failure to grant him a passport.”
Richard Kay Claims Princess Diana “Might Still Be Alive” Had She Known Al-Fayed Better
After her divorce, Diana accepted an invitation from Dodi Fayed to vacation in the South of France. However, Richard Kay again tried to convince her against it. When the Princess asked why Kay insisted on not being friends with the businessman, he replied, “Because he is a sleazy man.” He further wrote, “Had Diana heard one whisper of the appalling allegations against the man who so dazzled her, she might still be alive today.”

However, the Princess did not believe the journalist. Kay narrated, “When I suggested he was not the cuddly figure he liked to appear at the annual Harrods sale, she bridled… The Fayed she knew was a warm family man.” Unfortunately, their car crashed in the Pont d’Alma tunnel in Paris killing both Diana and Dodi. However, there is no evidence of Al-Fayed’s involvement in the accident.
