West Side Story star Rachel Zegler won’t walk through the red carpet of the 94th Academy Awards this Sunday. The 20-year-old actress shared a bunch of photographs on her official Instagram handle where she unfolded the truth behind the news.
The Golden Globe Award-winning actress posted on her social media a thread of pictures from her life. Fans reacted to the post in a positive manner and later the upcoming Shazam! 2 stars revealed about her absence from the Oscars because she did not receive the invite. This news shocked fans and they are looking for the answers.
Rachel Zegler Made Revealation On Her Instagram
Fans will not see Rachel at the Academy Awards this Sunday. The West Side Story star shared some glimpses from her life starting from the dazzling evening wear, work routines, award shows, and then some holiday vibes. She captioned the post, “A quarter of the year well spent.”
Her true fans appreciated and loved the thread and one commented about her presence at the Oscars. One commented, “can’t wait to see what you will be wearing on Oscar Night.” This was the moment when Zegler revealed the reason for her absence from the awards and her plans for the night. She replied to the comment, “I am not invited, so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel.”
After acknowledging the news, fans were infuriated and wanted to know why the star did not get invited even after director Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story was into many nominations.

The actress also stated that she tried to grab tickets for the awards on this 27th March. “Idk y’all I have tried it all but it does not seem to be happening. I will root for West Side Story from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago,” the actress said who played the character of Maria. The movie was the remake of a 1961 classic. The actress will be seen in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods and Disney’s Snow White reboot.
Additionally, the star said that she will wait for last-minute miracles and is very proud of the film that she was part of. She said, “I hope some last-minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate our film in person. But hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, I guess. Thanks for all the outrage and shock–I am disappointed, too. But that is okay. So proud of our movie.”

Zegler noticed the outrage and she took to Twitter to normalize this for fans and they should accept the process. The actress said, “My goodness folks!! Appreciate all the support, I really really do. We live in such unprecedented times, and a lot of work behind the scenes goes into making movie magic happen. That goes for film production (like the one I am so lucky to be currently shooting in London)…And awards shows alike. Let us just all respect the process and I will get off my phone x R.”
The actress is currently in London and busy with the filming of Mark Webb’s Snow White by Disney.
