Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is the man who practically invented swagger in the music industry, but is facing some serious heat. Known for shaping the careers of legends like the Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige, Diddy aka Sean Love Combs, has built an empire that includes music, fashion, and a little bit of everything in between.
He’s a three-time Grammy Award winner, a record producer, and an all-around mogul. But lately, it seems his business might not be the only thing booming. There’s been a storm brewing around him for multiple sexual assault allegations made against him. Though he has been facing the heat for a while now, the accusations keep pouring in. Here’s why he has been arrested yet again.
Sean Diddy Combs Arrested In Manhattan After Grand Jury Indictment
On Monday night, Homeland Security arrested Sean Diddy Combs in Manhattan, New York, in connection to a grand jury indictment. His arrest comes after several lawsuits were filed against him, alleging sex trafficking and abuse.
According to TMZ, Diddy was taken into federal custody at a midtown Manhattan hotel late Monday night. The plan was to arrest him on Tuesday, but for reasons not yet clear. Homeland Security agents swooped in, arresting him at the hotel and later transporting him to the FBI’s Manhattan field office.
A source close to the situation spilled to the New York Times that the arrest followed a grand jury indictment that’s still sealed. Although official charges have yet to be released, insiders suggest that Diddy could face accusations of racketeering and sex trafficking.
The 54-year-old rapper has reportedly been under scrutiny since his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against him, citing years of abuse and sex trafficking.
Multiple women have filed lawsuits against Combs since Ventura’s last November. That month, Combs was hit with a second lawsuit by Joi Dickerson-Neal. She alleged that Combs “drugged, sexually assaulted and abused” her and that she was the victim of “revenge porn” created and distributed by the rapper.
Then in December, a lawsuit filed by a Jane Doe alleged that Combs and R&B singer Aaron Hall took turns raping her and her friends at Hall’s apartment sometime between 1990 and 1991. Combs has denied the allegations made in these various lawsuits.
Sean Diddy Combs’ Legal Team Fires Back
Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, didn’t waste any time firing back. In a statement to TMZ, he said, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”
He went on to describe Diddy as a “music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist” who has spent decades building an empire and uplifting the Black community.
Agnifilo also emphasized Diddy’s cooperation throughout the investigation. “He is an imperfect person but is not criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation… These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide.”

However, after an old video of him dragging Cassie Ventura went viral on social media amid his trials, Combs apologized for his behavior in a now-deleted Instagram video. “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that. I was fucked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable,” he said.
“I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. They’re disgusting. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought professional help. I’ve been going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I am truly sorry,” he added, though the post has been deleted since.
