Apart from her romantic life, Jennifer Lopez has been in the limelight recently for some criticism she received about three years ago. ‘The Bear‘ star Ayo Edebiri had made some spiteful comments about her career some years back. However, the duo had made amends during their joint appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live’.
Months after the show, Lopez has now opened up about how she received an apology from Edebiri. In an interview with Variety, Lopez revealed that Edebiri approached her before the show to apologize profusely for her past remarks.

Recalling the day of the show, Lopez told Variety, “She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things,” Lopez recalled in an interview published on Thursday.
“She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck and she actually got to hear me perform,” Lopez added.
“She was just like, ‘I’m so f–king sorry, it was so awful of me,” Lopez added. The superstar added that she wasn’t affected by Edebiri’s rude comments because she has “heard similar things” throughout her “entire career.”
In 2020, Edebiri had appeared on the ‘Scam Goddess’ podcast when she had called Lopez’s fame “one long scam.” “She thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her,” Edebiri claimed. “I think she thinks that she’s still good even though she’s not singing for most of these songs,” she said at the time.
She further claimed that she studied Lopez’s career and found evidence that proved she didn’t sing all of her tracks. “A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J. Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio.’ like, ‘J. Lo was busy,’” she recalled. “It’s like, ‘Doing what?’ Not singing, obviously!” she added at the time.

Edebiri’s remarks gained traction again after she was announced as the guest host of ‘Saturday Night Live’ on February 3 alongside Lopez. Edebiri addressed her comments during the show with a skit called ‘Why’d You Say It?’, during which the participants were forced to explain questionable remarks of theirs.
“It’s wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid,” she said while seated in the hot seat.
“But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online,” he said. “It’s wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid,” she added.
Despite the criticism, Lopez and Edebiri appeared to be on good terms during the show. In a promo clip before the show, they exchanged niceties, with Lopez expressing her excitement and complimenting Edebiri’s show. Edebiri also replied with “I love your everything.”
