The ongoing Israel-Palestine war has left the world divided as people continue to die because of the ruthless bombing. While thousands of Palestinians have been killed since the war raged almost a year ago, it continues to worsen with no end to it in sight. Many celebrities have also come forward to express their stance on the war.
One among them was Angelina Jolie, who has openly voiced her support for the Palestinians. However, her father is not seemingly happy with her view. In a recent interview with Variety, Jon Voight took a swipe at his daughter Angelina over her stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, labeling her as “ignorant” and “naive” for supporting Palestine. Here’s what he said.
Angelina Jolie’s Father Disagrees With Her Stance On Israel-Palestine War
Angelina Jolie is reputed for her humanitarian work besides her exceptional acting skills. Her support for Palestine was perhaps no surprise as she has been actively working to help the downtrodden. However, her 85-year-old father, actor Jon Voight, does not agree with her stance.
In a recent interview, he openly criticized her for the stance, while also contending that she has been brainwashed by some anti-semitic people. “She has been exposed to propaganda,” Voight said. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the UN, and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees,” he added.
Jolie has in the past served as a special envoy for the UN High Commission for Refugees, and has been vocal about Israel and its response to the October 7 Hamas attack.
In an October 2023 statement, she said, “What happened in Israel is an act of terror. But that cannot justify the innocent lives lost in bombing a civilian population in Gaza that has nowhere to go, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even the basic human right to cross a border to seek refuge.”
But Voight thinks Jolie is misinformed due to her involvement with the UN. “She’s ignorant of what the real stakes are and what the real story is because she’s in the loop of the United Nations,” he said during the same interview.

Jon Voight And Angelina Jolie Share A Complicated Father-Daughter Relationship
Jon Voight also criticized activists who claim there are over 5 million Palestinian refugees, calling them “naive dupes.” He further admitted it’s challenging to discuss the differences he has with his daughter Angelina Jolie.
“She doesn’t really want to share this kind of stuff, because she’s of another mind about it,” he said. However, despite the disagreements, Voight emphasized his love for his daughter. “I love my daughter. I don’t want to fight with my daughter. But the fact is, I think she has been influenced by the UN. From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing,” he said.
Voight further reiterated his love for Jolie. “I love my daughter — that’s No. 1. I am happy when Angie is happy. When she’s having a tough time, I’m having a tough time. When she is down, I’m down.”
This, however, is not the first time that the father-daughter duo’s personal concerns have made headlines. They have had a complicated relationship over the years. A source close to Jolie told Variety that “Angelina wishes him well but does not speak about him publicly.”
