Back in May, Jennifer Tilly was announced as a “Friend of” Sutton Stracke, the charming Southern belle, as part of a cast shakeup for season 14 of RHOBH. She had already made a surprise appearance last season, just hanging out with Stracke, with a ‘Jennifer Tilly‘ chyron under her Oscar-nominated face.

Turns out, Tilly has “always been a Housewives superfan” but only the Beverly Hills franchise, since she lives there and loves seeing “Beverly Hills through the lens of really rich people.

However, reality TV filming isn’t always as glamorous as it seems. “I thought that I was going to see a lot of people shopping on Rodeo Drive, but a lot of the filming that they do is in the Valley, in places where it’s easier to get permits,” Tilly shared in a recent chat with Vulture.

So it’s not like you’re at the fanciest places in Beverly Hills, arguing. They’re usually arguing at some kind of non–Beverly Hills place because the really fancy, elite places don’t want Housewives screaming at each other in their dining room,” she added.

Despite previous offers to join the show, Jennifer Tilly had always declined. This year though, she “wanted to do everything different.” “But I never thought I’d be on ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’ To me, it’s like working with Martin Scorsese,” she gushed.

Tilly’s boyfriend dreams of experiencing zero gravity in space with a $40 million ticket, but for Tilly, being on RHOBH is her zero-gravity experience. She confessed, “I was more excited to meet Kyle Richards and Erika Jayne and the other ladies than I was when I met Elizabeth Taylor.”

At the time of her interview, Tilly had been filming for about a month and already considers it “the most challenging thing I’ve ever done.” Knowing the power of the editors from her research on ‘The Bachelor,’ she entered the show with a keen awareness of how they could shape her narrative.

This insight gave her empathy for the Housewives who “were looking really bad on the show.” “You come in without a script. It’s just sort of like they just wade in there, and they go at it,” Tilly observed.

In real life, if you’re at a restaurant and people at the table are screaming at each other, you’re mortified like, Oh my God. I can’t believe I’m with these uncouth people. But when I am sitting at a table with Housewives, I feel like I have a front-row seat at the Super Bowl,” she said.
