Keke Palmer Talks About Legacies She Wants To Leave Behind
In 2024, Keke Palmer will have completed a decade since her debut film, ‘Barbershop 2: Back in Business’, was released. Recently, she was featured in Teen Vogue, where the actress talked about her new entrepreneurial ventures and also hinted at leaving the film industry sooner rather than later.
Keke Palmer said, “I don’t know. I think the timer has started. I think it’s because I just haven’t felt it yet. But the timer, I know that it’s around the corner. I don’t know when exactly, but it’s around the corner.”
Keke Palmer added that she does not intend to gatekeep; in fact, she wants to tell people to create spaces that will help people grow. Keke said, “The main thing I want those legacies to be is [a call] to use your power for good, to use what you have to create spaces and systems for other people to thrive.”
Keke continued, “I just don’t believe in holding everything. I don’t believe in gatekeeping. I’m not a coward. What would that do? I think it’s based in fear. If I’m speaking on it from a compassionate place, I think people that gatekeep are afraid. So I’m not scared.”

The Actress Also Addresses Controversy Surrounding Her Husband
In July 2023, Keke Palmer and her husband, Darius Jackson, were at loggerheads. It all started when she attended Usher’s concert in Las Vegas during his residency. During the concert, Usher pulled off his signature seduction move with Keke. After the video went viral, Darius commented on Palmer’s dress.
Keke Palmer also clapped back at Darius Jackson through music, including featuring on Usher’s ‘Boyfriend’ MV. While the couple reconciled temporarily, in November 2023, Keke sent a restraining order against Darius Jackson and filed for custody of their child.
During the interview, Keke Palmer said that she wants to shift her focus to uplift others and to focus on positive things. She said, “For me, the most important thing is to keep people uplifted. I know what I represent, and I know a lot of people that feel like I represent them. I just care most about continuing to put focus on the things that I know are going to be positive and uplifting to others.”
