Blake Lively is set to release her film based on the highly acclaimed Colleen Hoover book It Ends With Us‘ and she is pretty sure that her work is not going to be just another example of a poorly done film adaptation of a great book. While the fans of the book are concerned that the film will perhaps devalue the book, Lively has ample reassurance for them.

During a recent interview, Lively said she has made sure that the book’s fans are honored. “Some people will always like a book better than a movie and some people like a movie better than the book, but I think that we just did our best to honor the book and honor the fans, and, I think, really make something that works even by itself,” she explained.

I don’t think there’s any way that if you read the book and you saw the movie that you wouldn’t be thrilled. We really worked hard on that,” the actress added.

Directed by and starring Justin Baldoni, ‘It Ends With Us‘ will have Blake Lively play the lead role, along with co-actor Brandon Sklenar. Set to hit the theaters on August 9, the film follows the story of Lily Bloom played by Lively, as she overcomes a traumatic childhood and starts a new chapter of her life.

As her relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid deepens, she starts to see troubling parallels to her parents’ relationship. Lively said that she made sure that the film was made in a way that it would resonate with her fans.

This story resonated with so many people, so there’s a great responsibility that comes with that. You want to honor this book and this character that people love so much, but you also want to bring a life and a humanity to it that is true to who you are,” she said.

She further revealed that she takes pride in the film and its connection with both Hoover and the fans. “I’m just so proud of this film. I’m just so proud to be here and sharing it with Colleen and the fans. It’s just really special. It was a great honor to take on Lily, and I’m so proud,” Lively said.
