Sofia Vergara Puts An Age Bar On Her Dating Criteria
Sofía Vergara is renowned for her wit and bold attitude which adds to the charm she holds at the age of 51. The actress has been making headlines for her new show ‘Griselda‘, apart from the way she’s handling her divorce.
After a hit from her last marriage, Sofia has now decided that she will stick to a dating criteria where her next partner must meet a specific age requirement. The actress revealed this rule during an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen‘.
“They can’t be younger than 50. I’m 51,” Vergara said. However, she added that it would be acceptable if her next partner is 49. Host Andy Cohen was surprised. “Seriously, that’s your rule?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’m intelligent,” Vergara responded, laughing. The revelation came after fellow guest Alexia Nepola from ‘The Real Housewives of Miami‘ suggested that Vergara should consider dating Bad Bunny, with whom she flirted in October 2023.
Dismissing the idea jokingly, Vergara pointed out that Bad Bunny is younger than her son. “Let’s not get crazy. He’s younger than my son Manolo. Manolo is 32,” she said.

Vergara Split With Her Husband Because Of Age Difference
Vergara’s new dating rule chiefly stems from her recent split from her husband, Joe Manganiello. The duo had a four-year age gap between them, which further led to differences in opinion about having children. She explained that her decision to split stemmed from not wanting to be an older mother. The actress said she would rather be a grandmother than a mother now.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger. He wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” she explained. She also added that though she respects people who choose to embrace parenthood at an old age, she personally wants to obey the biological course of action as she’s nearing her menopause.
Despite her divorce, Vergara remains open to finding love again. This time , she has a preference for a partner who already has children. News of her split with Manganiello surfaced in July 2023, followed by images of Vergara on a date with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman three months later.
In the meantime, Manganiello has also move on with his romantic life, as he made his red carpet debut with girlfriend Caitlin O’Connor in December 2023. Sources close to the actor said he has had a longstanding desire to have children, and he now prefers to have a partner who can cater to that need.
