Rebel Wilson is opening up on her struggles of weight loss, and everything that came with it. For someone who was often giving roles of funny plus sized side characters, the actress soon steered things differently as she underwent a shocking transformation, losing 80 Lbs.
While talking about her inspiring journey, the actress also revealed that her weight gave her roles that paid eight figures, which is why her agency wanted her to be fat so she gets paid more. In her memoir, she writes, “My agency liked me fat because they got hundreds of thousands of dollars in commission for each film where I played the fat funny girl.”
The eight figures in question came from the film ‘Pitch Perfect’ where she played Fat Amy and was one of the most loved side characters. For which she was offered $9 million, and after negotiation became $10 million. “That’s a big milestone when you’re an actor,” she said. “To receive an eight-figure offer, for a woman, is huge. Sometimes women don’t like to talk about that.
The figures, however, came at a price as part of playing Fat Amy was that she was asked to not lose any weight, at all. Wilson stated, “You can’t lose — I think it’s not more than 10 pounds or gain more than 10 pounds. You have to kind of stay at the weight. It’s in your contract.”

The sole inspiration behind her wanting to lose weight was the actress’s desire for motherhood. As someone who suffered from PCOS, her doctors let her know that weight loss can be a huge barrier between her and fertility, prompting her to work on losing weight, to increase her chances of fertility. “I thought of a future child’s needs,” she said, “that really inspired me to get healthier.”
Drooping the revealing memoir, she also added that she stopped appealing to a lot of people to lose weight. As a response to which she added, “Some were like, ‘Oh, we don’t think she’s funny anymore,’ or, ‘Now she’s lost me as a fan because I can’t relate to her anymore.’ But I think if they read the book, they’ll understand my journey with weight and health.”
