Tom Cruise Performs Extremely Dangerous Stunt
The ‘Mission: Impossible‘ star recently shared a breathtaking behind-the-scenes on Twitter as the fans see him preparing for the movie’s speed flying stunt alongside Christopher McQuarrie and the crew. Speed flying is nothing like paragliding, the former is very unpredictable and fear-induced. It is a sport in which paragliders descend mountains of great heights at a breakneck pace, often spiraling through the air and coming at intense speed as they land on the ground.
Christopher McQuarrie, the director of the film explained, “To shoot these stunts for Mission: Impossible, with Tom there are no limits — so we become a little bit more adventurous every time. While it may look similar, speed flying is not sky diving — sky diving is fairly predictable, speed flying is incredibly unpredictable.” McQuarrie further told CNN, “Flying very close to rocks looks quite beautiful. Behind the scenes, we were all in absolute terror”.
The film’s director also added, “I just don’t mind it. I don’t mind that feeling — I kinda like that feeling. I like to see [when] you prepare for something and you’re like, ‘What’s gonna happen?”The stunt is too risky for the drones or helicopters to fly close to Tom Cruise. However the landing had to be perfect as Crusie needed to touch down facing the camera and even the slightest crosswind would throw him off and slam him on the deadly collision course with a cliff face, a ground, or even the vehicle. It took two years of training, but Cruise pulled off the stunt smoothly.
