Tom Cruise has become synonymous with action and stunts in Hollywood. More than his acting, which is also something he is acclaimed for, the actor has also made a prominent space for himself as a stunt expert in the industry. For years, audiences have been in awe of the dangerous stunts he has performed himself in his most popular films.
Taking his skill a notch higher, the star is now set to perform a live stunt at the Paris Olympics in its closing ceremony. Fans can expect him to fly high in the air, with people watching from the edge of their seats, thousands of feet below. Here’s all we know about his gig and what can be expected from it.
Tom Cruise Is Set To Perform A Stunning Stunt Stunt On August 11
Tom Cruise is set to grace the 2024 Paris Olympics with his action-packed flair. The ‘Mission: Impossible‘ has been spotted in Paris to support team USA since the first week of the event. But that is not all he plans on doing there.
The star is gearing up for a top-secret stunt at the closing ceremony scheduled for August 11. According to a report by TMZ, Cruise is set to perform a skydiving stunt to ceremoniously hand over the Olympic Games torch from Paris to the next host city, Los Angeles.
Reports suggest that the plan is as thrilling as any of Cruise’s blockbuster movie scenes. It will begin with him swinging from the top of the Stade de France, with the official Olympic flag in tow. He would then make his way to the stadium’s field. The ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ star will also pass the flag to other athletes, including a cyclist, skateboarder, and volleyball player. But that’s just the beginning.
The broadcast will then cut to a two-minute pre-recorded segment where Cruise travels via airplane, carrying the flag from France to LA. He’ll then jump out of the plane and land on the iconic Hollywood sign, and finally make the handover.

Tom Cruise Has Been A Part Of Olympics Traditions Before
Tom Cruise’s Paris Olympics stunt is not a last-minute addition though it was a well-kept secret until now. The star has been preparing for it for months now, as photos from March 16 show him doing demos of the Hollywood stunt.
While a planned segment along the Pacific Coast Highway was reportedly scrapped due to logistical issues, including LAPD concerns and permit challenges with the California Coastal Commission, the spectacle would be a matter of excitement.
This is not the first time he has been a part of the Olympics. The ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ star had famously helped carry the torch in LA in 2004, promoting peace and friendship. This year too, he was spotted enjoying the artistic gymnastics event at the Bercy Arena on July 28 and made an appearance at the opening ceremony along the Seine on July 26 as well.
