Rapper Travis Scott‘s fans were highly disappointed after his Chicago concert on Friday was abruptly postponed just hours before it was supposed to start. The move came years after several of his fans were killed during the Astroworld concert in 2021.
With several fans already at the concert venue, the last-minute cancellation led to an outcry against the rapper on social media in no time. The news of the postponement was shared by the United Center, where the ‘Utopia – Circus Maximus’ tour show was scheduled to be held.

The statement did not clarify the reason for the sudden postponement, leading to even more outrage among fans. “Travis Scott’s show at United Center scheduled for tonight has been postponed. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced,” the statement read.
“All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced. More information will be posted here and emailed to ticketholders directly when available,” it added.
Several social media platforms were soon flooded with angry and criticizing remarks against Scott. Taking to Instagram, a netizen remarked, “You did Chicago so dirty bro I was so ready for tonight man why didn’t you give an earlier notice?”
Many also speculated the rapper’s location as he had just performed in Saudi Arabia. He had opened the Soundstorm festival in Riyadh the day before. “Goes to Saudi Arabia a day before his Chicago show just to reschedule. Unreal,” a person wrote on Scott’s Instagram account.
“Travis Scott picked dat Saudi money over the Chicago money and that’s that,” another user wrote on Twitter.

Scott finally responded to his scrutinizing fans on December 16, suggesting that he was stuck at an airport. “I literally spent 24 hrs on a f–king runway. Craziest s–t ever. To my people in Chicago, I was so ready to go crazyyyy,” the rapper wrote in his Instagram post
“Chicago always been one if my favorite places. Togo ham and been waiting for it the whole tour. I will be back the first couple days of January,” he added.
The incident might come in the way of Travis Scott’s attempts at repairing his image after the death of 10 of his concert attendees at the Astroworld Concert in November 2021. The incident triggered an investigation by the Houston Police. However, no charges were filed against Scott.
The rescheduled dates of the concert have not been announced yet.
