As the presidential elections draw closer, Hollywood is increasingly speaking up about the people who are set to compete to govern the country. ‘Friends‘ star Jennifer Aniston has also chimed in, expressing her surprise Senator J.D. Vance running for Vice President alongside Donald Trump. The actress did not mince words when it came to Vance’s controversial remarks about childless women in power.
The 55-year-old actress took to Instagram on Wednesday and voiced her disbelief over Vance potentially becoming the next Vice President of the United States despite having such openly preposterous views. Here’s what she said.
Jennifer Aniston Calls Out J.D. Vance For His Controversial Comments About Women Without Children
Donald Trump recently picked Senator J.D. Vance as his running partner for the presidential race — a move that triggered backlash because of Vance’s controversial reputation. Amid heavy criticism for the senator, Jennifer Aniston said she “truly can’t believe” Vance’s possibility of becoming the Vice President, when he has labeled women like Kamala Harris as “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”
She took to Instagram, sharing her thoughts quite bluntly about the resurfaced comments that Vance made in 2021. “I truly can’t believe this is coming from the potential VP of the United States,” she wrote, alongside a screenshot of a tweet showing Vance’s interview with Tucker Carlson, during which he claimed the country was being led by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”
In the video, the Ohio Republican can be heard specifically naming Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as examples of this supposed trend. “All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day,” Aniston added in her Instagram story. “I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option because you are trying to take that away from her, too,” she said.
The actress has been vocal about her own IVF journey, and the issue is therefore personal for her.

Jennifer Aniston Has Struggled With Chances Of Motherhood In The Past
J.D. Vance was recently announced as Donald Trump’s running mate for the 2024 election. A rather infamous Republican from Ohio, he has three children with his wife, Usha. Harris, who will now be running for President after Joe Biden stepped down, is stepmother to her husband Doug Emhoff’s two children and has no children of her own.
Jennifer Aniston’s open disapproval of Vance comes against the backdrop of her personal struggles with fertility. She has also been quite open about the ordeal, as she opened up about the emotional toll of constant pregnancy rumors in a November 2022 interview with Allure.
“It was really hard,” she said, reflecting on her IVF attempts and the relentless media frenzy around it. She also addressed some hurtful rumors suggesting that she chose her career over having children, calling them “absolute lies.”
After sharing her story, Aniston also expressed a sense of relief. “Here I am today. The ship has sailed… I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, ‘Can I?’ I don’t have to think about that anymore,” she said.
