Vivica A. Fox recently admitted that the film suffered from not having Will Smith. The sequel, ‘Resurgence,’ decides to kill Will Smith’s character. When the sequel came out in 2016, it was universally panned by critics and audiences. Fox believes that having the 52-year-old actor would have attracted more audience.

The ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Independence Day’ actress told ‘The AV Club,’ “I really feel we missed out by not bringing Will Smith back. We had most of the original cast, but I think the one true link that was missing to the success of Independence Day 2 was that Will Smith wasn’t there.”

There are conflicting accounts about the now Oscar-winning actor declining participation in the sequel.
The 54-year-old actor’s character was believed to be in the original script. But the character was killed off as the new writers came on board. The director stated Smith was too expensive for them. ‘The Pursuit Of Happiness’ actor talked to BBC Radio about his decision to make a career move by starring in the 2016 DC film ‘Suicide Squad.’
