Rob McElhenney turned 47 on April 14, and his friend and colleague Ryan Reynolds decided to celebrate it in his classic prankster style. In a video shared ahead of McElhenney’s birthday, his fellow co-chairman of Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC, Reynolds posted a video involving the 112th anniversary of the infamous sinking of the Titanic.
Reynolds donned his Deadpool suit in the video as he directly addressed the viewers. “So, for his big day this year, I financed an expedition to the ocean floor to retrieve a few bottles of Wrexham Lager, which was actually on that maiden voyage, to use in an epic birthday toast,” he said, referring to the beer made by a company of the same name as his football club, which was also served on the 1912 Titanic voyage.
It felt like Rob’s birthday was today but apparently it’s tomorrow? I am posting now because it’s April 14th in Wrexham and I’ll bet people are still up! Happy Birthday, @RMcElhenney, and LFG, @Wrexham_AFC!!! Thanks to @Vistaprint & @TyPawb pic.twitter.com/BuvyttqBuL

“We searched and searched, and while unfortunately, we didn’t find any drinkable Wrexham Lager, what we did find was even more beautiful…” Reynolds continued, before revealing the real surprise – a hand-drawn portrait of McElhenney in the style of Kate Winslet’s iconic nude drawing from the ‘Titanic‘ movie.

Ryan Reynolds And Rob McElhenney Have A Playful Relationship
The humor continued as Reynolds then asked his viewers to join in the celebration — but not without a twist. He announced that his team has partnered with printing company Vistaprint, though he warned against purchasing items featuring McElhenney’s likeness.
“But please, don’t embarrass him by going to Vistaprint.com/Wrexham to purchase, gift, and share items customized in all of Rob’s splendor and soft, delicate chest hair,” he further joked. Reynolds further announced that the portrait of McElhenney would hang in the Tŷ Pawb Gallery in Wrexham.
The Wrexham co-chairmen share a playful relationship as they occasionally involve each other incheerful banters. From birthday songs to blimps, Reynolds and McElhenney’s friendship is defined by their shared love of laughter and lighthearted mischief.
With Wrexham AFC recently promoted to League One, the duo has even more reason to celebrate, making this year’s birthday prank extra special.
