Taylor Swift has waved the rainbow flag and officially commenced Pride Month for Swifties while touring for her Eras Tour. While many celebrities have made gestures to wish their queer fans a happy pride month, Taylor Swift also joined the list. The pop star is currently in France as part of her European leg of the Eras Tour.
On Sunday, she was performing at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, when she wished the audience a happy Pride Month in honor of the LGBTQ+ community. The gesture was made more special as it was her first show of the month.
Taylor Swift’s Lyon Tour Takes Dramatic Turn With Wet Weather
“Happy Pride Month, Lyon,” Taylor Swift declared as the crowd cheered on while she performed ‘You Need to Calm Down’, a song released in 2019 as an anthem for the queer community. The stage made a perfect backdrop to her wishes, adorned with rainbow lights and decorations.

The performance was made even more dramatic because of the heavy rain in Lyon. Swift addressed the weather as she told the crowd, “Pluie, rain” (“pluie” means “rain” in French). However, it did not deter Swift and the love she has for her art and her fans alike.
Videos from fans showed the singer’s band playing under tents on the sides of the stage, with VIP booths and areas closest to the stage also covered. Audience members also remained unfazed as they donned ponchos to endure the wet weather.
“We have officially had a rain show tonight and that is set,” Swift said before performing ‘Champagne Problems’, according to USA Today. “That is permanent. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t rain again,” she said.

Taylor Swift’s 2019 Song ‘You Need To Calm Down’ Is A Tribute To Her Queer Fans And Peers
Taylor Swift continued the tradition of introducing two surprise songs each night, as she played a mix of ‘The Prophecy’ from her new album ‘The Tortured Poets Department‘, and ‘Long Story Short‘ from her 2020 album ‘Evermore‘ while seated at her piano.
Her tribute to the queer community came with a song that holds special significance for her queer fans. Other than the song itself, the music video for ‘You Need to Calm Down’ also features several LGBTQ+ celebrities, including the Queer Eye cast, Hannah Hart, model Dexter Mayfield, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, and singer Todrick Hall. The song, released in the summer of 2019, was a fitting tribute to the queer community across the globe that loves Taylor Swift.
Travis Kelce was notably absent from the performance even though he has occasionally visited her during the European leg of the Eras Tour. He was busy with the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City, Mo., which he attended alongside Jason Sudeikis, Paul Rudd, Patrick Mahomes, and other celebrities for a fundraising event.
Swift will perform one more show in Lyon before heading to Edinburgh, Scotland, for a three-night run.
