Her Majesty has accumulated more than $500 million in personal assets from her 70 years reign on the throne. This includes real estate investments, art, jewelry, and properties like the Sandringham House and the Balmoral Castle.

She passed away at Balmoral Castle which is situated in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Elizabeth liked to spend a lot of time in this castle and it is believed to be her favorite residence.

The property has historical significance as it has served as a private retreat for the British royals for more than 150 years for parties and picnics. It was purchased by Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert in 1845.

It spawned around 7,000-acre and was used for leisure for the Queen. She also worked and read her diplomatic papers in the “red boxes”, and talked to audiences with dignitaries and advisors. The property also saw public engagements headed by the Queen.

Her Majesty traditionally liked to live in Balmoral Castle in August every year. This time, she retreated to the home by the end of July where she died.

The castle is open for public viewing when the royal family is not in the residence. People can even book a stay at the castle online. Queen used to do salmon fishing here in her childhood.

She also enjoyed horseback riding on the property, even in her recent years. The desolate location of the castle made it her favorite.

It’s the wide open spaces. No distractions, no aeroplanes, no noise, no traffic. Just this lovely estate where she can freely roam everywhere,” Sir Malcolm Ross, former Comptroller of the Royal Household, had said once.
