Ryan Scott Anderson, 37, is a middle school special education teacher based in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Gypsy Rose Blanchard was still serving her 7-year prison sentence when she received Anderson’s letter. Ryan has revealed to People that their love story started when his co-worker at the time was like, “I want to write Tiger King,” and he said, “I’ll tell you what, if you write him, I’ll write Gypsy Rose Blanchard. I never thought she’d be my wife.“
Sending a letter is what he did, resulting in a wedding in the prison itself. Their relationship grew romantically in this digital age through emails and Ryan’s frequent visits. This can be seen in his social media posts leading up to his wife’s release on December 28, 2023.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Defends Husband Against Social Media Backlash
In response to the barrage of negative comments flooding her husband Ryan Anderson’s Instagram following her recent release from prison, Taylor Swift fan Gypsy took to the platform to address the critics. A true Swiftie.
In a comment under one of Anderson’s Instagram posts early Wednesday morning, Blanchard asserted, “Ryan, don’t listen to the haters. I love you, and you love me. We do not owe anyone anything. Our family is what matters. If you get likes and good comments, great; if you get hate, then whatever, because THEY DON’T MATTER. I love you.”
Blanchard also added, “Besides they being jealous because you are rocking my world every night… Yeah, I said it, the D is fire, happy wife, happy life.”
